Poetry she comes to me

Poetry she comes to me
Like a thief in the night
She crawls down by my bed
In my head
She whispers to me
And mentions your name
I refrain from calling it out
Loud above the minarets in this eastern city
I pity the fortune of the beggar in the street
And he pities mine
Huh - how true it is
Poetry she come to me
She comes to me with the truth
She comes riding on the waves of sunlight
Hitting my face returning it to the colour it was supposed to be
I see so little from these eyes that are
Blinded by the kindness of the monthly wage
In haste I seconded my life to an existence that
Does not seem to argue with anything
It is well….normal
It is quite civil
Quite sensible
Quite

Poetry she comes to me
And takes off her clothes
She nakeds herself to me
With an honesty only found
In the moons answer to the sun when he asks her to shine
And she shines
She shines for him all night long.

Poetry she comes to me when you are gone
Poetry she comes to me when nothing can be done
About the wine in my system, about the smoke in my lungs
She comes and detoxs me, she cuts my veins
And lets me bleed
Let me bleed
Let me bleed
Let me bleed
For I do not heed your calls anymore
I answer to a different God
Poetry she calls my name
And I answer
Yes
How may I serve you tonight
She smiles and says dance with me
And boy do I dance
Like a whirl like a twirl like a new life about to unfurl
She delivers me from her womb and every night
I am reborn
I am reborn
I am reborn to poetry.

Seas and flowers

Seas and flowers,
the power within to arrest me
I attest me and you were here,
in this place so near but yet so far.

Seas and flowers
they undress me but sadly,
It was only my clothes that came off.
I kept my soul on

My soul,
this soul I have been waiting to take off
all my life.

Broken Toy

She loves him madly, where does she start?
Limb from limb, she pulls hims apart.
She wonders why he cries, bless his heart.
A smile crosses her lips, his silence screaming, stop.

She remembers, fields of green, joy, glee
She remembers, laughing, lightness, carefree,
She remembers skipping through woods and trees,
and how it all came to an end, the birds, the bees.

Life carved out its impression on everything,
Hands flying, innocence dying, lightness bleeds, bleeding
Trampling over words that could not carry
Muffled emotions - dreams dripping off the edge, seep slowly, seeping.

The children inside her, fell off their playground rides,
Observed their blue skies above demise,
Reality - approached shard like to her throat,
Childhood delivered - with a ransom note.

Henna crushed - colours emerging a darker tone,
Emotions flushed - flesh turning to stone.
Deciple now the priest - takes the pulpit - preach,
Souls arrive - moths to a flame - they meet.

He remembers days of everything; now distant,
He remembers, belonging, security; he remembers trust,
He remembered the way she held him, enveloping, womb,
and how it all came to and end, crashing metal, wheels, tomb.

Lost, scavenging for something to fill the vaccum,
pillar to post, conquest then atone, with them, but alone,
terrified - clinging to love - running towards every kindly glance,
Like a wave, crashing, backwards march.

Heart like glass, broken, mended, so many times,
Teenage dreams crushed, resurrected as they opined.
Self worth, worthless, cheap human roams expensive street,
A soldier in need of rufuge - they meet.

Days lost, future is post, the past is set aside,
two missiles, unguided, their paths collide,
explosions repairing damaged walls,
unsteady foundations, destined to fall.
She walks the precipice; clinging; edge
Too far to fall, memories, dredge.
Rationing herself, crumbs strewn across surface,
Epitaph carving its way slowly up ediface.

His being existing only to serve her.
Embryonic, the world a distant hum, slumber.
The future is irrelevant, only the here, only the now;
Lifting her, feet barely touching ground.

She loves him madly, he fills her gaps as they appear,
He tiptoes across all her traps, all her fears.
Expectantly, she lies in wait for him to fail,
Dagger drawn, bowstring pulled, arrows ready to sail.

In her toy cupboard, he lives unwittingly in paradise
Pulls him out when shes lonely, at what price?
Happy to be played with - blind broken toy,
Hes found his purpose, joy of a broken boy.

She loves him madly, where does she start?
Limb from limb, she pulls him apart.
She wonders why he cries, bless his heart.
A smile crosses her lips, his silence screaming, stop.

Cruel satisfaction, delight, violence enbalming wounds,
Madnesses escaping, they see light, all scurrying through
She strikes the final blow, silence, her storms subside,
Her oceans calm, skies clear, sands smooth, emerge from tides

Life seeps out of him, in gentle wisps,
Breath slowly receeding, soul dissapating to mist,
His heart captures its last image of her,
His eyes close, he's leaving, hes gone; forever.

Lifeless in her trembling hands, his pieces decorate her floor
Helpless, numb, sterile, un-concatenated, no.
Fury unleashed, reduces God to a cinder,
The promise of spring, folds into barren winter.
Innocent tears, traverse lifetimes, across her face,
On the roadside, holding broken toy, the shapes her fingers trace,
Hitching a ride, another destination, another life, another hope,
Car stops, heart flutters, she runs hard, her and her dreams elope.

Door slams shut, tyres squeal, shes gone,
but shes left something behind, somethings wrong,
Catches a glimpse in the rear view mirror,
Her toy lying in pieces by the roadside, she considers stopping, she doesn't.

I busy myself with you

I busy myself with you at times,
I study your lines in my mind and find
my fingers carving out your shape in mid air;
they have a better memory than I do.

I move effortlessly in your direction,
my feet carry me to the corner of this empty room,
where you once stood so close to me.
You chose me, proposed life and things to me.

Trying times are these, struggling to find you.
Where do I start?
I park myself in front of your wardrobe.
Those clothes, hanging, will they just suddenly fill
themselves with you if I look hard enough.

I pick up your old scarf - it still smells of you.
I imagine breathing in your warmth,
the softness of your neck,
it used to feel like home.

In the hallway I see your keys.
I hold them and try to feel the hands that spent
so much time around them.
Nothing.

It’s starting to get cold in here.
I feel a shiver, my voice echoes around
and comes back to me empty handed.

The dusty chandelier seems to stare back at me
through a veil of dirt, like a lifeless corpse.
A blank empty cold stare as if it were looking
through me, saying, “Well, what did you expect?"

The old floorboards creaking under me
feel tortured and parched.
With every step they groan and creak,
like an innocent victim accused of some terrible crime.

I see a haze of light penetrate the curtains.
It comes into the living room like a temporary visitor
treating everything it touches like an object.
In a few hours it too will be gone making way for that
all too familiar, all too comfortable darkness.

The darkness that now fills all the empty spaces you left behind.

The darkness that now sustains me.

The darkness that helps me close my eyes,
explore this place and search for you.

I awake to find you lying next to me.
I turn to see your sleeping face, so peaceful.
I reach out to touch you, then stop myself, no, mustn't disturb you,

You may be searching for me in your dreams as well.

Last Days

Last days are connate in me,
Arrive by flight so quick, how long I have longed for thee
Im free now, in your embrace,
I trace the lines of my tears down your face

Flames become embers; extinguished,
Dissapear into the night I wish
I had time to bid fare thee well completely
Slip gently into history, pages turn, new chapter, lest I forget thee

Dust settles on you and me,
Endearing you to me this time,
This time we had, finally, I feel.
Pain makes me human, you made me real.

Envelop my soul, I smoulder to be with you
Leaving you behind, in the distance, I have to,
Wrap your final gaze around my person
Shroud me from my destiny, love; eternal.
