I Am Worthy
I Am Worthy
She turns to look at me
How could it be, so soon,
What we started has turned to dust
Disillusionment now in every crevice of my being
I search for the feelings in the cracks and find only darkness,
a stuttering desire, shards of what was once me...is this the end?
I wake up every morning and breath your name
It spills from my tongue, involuntarily
It echoes in this room
where we once lay,
I pray I will not indulge myself
in the pain you left behind today.
Today I will emerge from the burial cloth,
like a dusty moth, seeking the light I could see for so long.
Today I'm going to forget those words, those looks, that touch,
today I'm going to forget that I loved you so much.
Today, Temerity.
Today, Hope.
Today, Light.
Today, Life.
I will open that door today to a new life, a new me,
Free of that melancholy that has sustained me for so long.
Is that you I can hear, fading away in my memory,
You're not coming in clear,
This line is a little crackly.
Today I will believe I am worthy.
